London Haul

So last Saturday my mum and I went to Covent Garden in London to do a bit of shopping and see the Lion King at the Lyceum (which was amazing by the way). I spent way too much money (despite the fact that we didn't even have that much time to shop) and so I thought I would share what it was that I bought!

We had got off the tube in Covent Garden and within five minutes I had bought a pair of ridiculously over-priced shoes. These limited edition Liberty Sky Hi Nike Air Max's are the most beautiful trainers I have ever seen. They were a whopping £119 and I am still a little in shock that I actually bought them, but I love them so much and if you can't spoil yourself in December then when can you, eh?

I was so excited to find a MAC store, but it seemed, so did the rest of London and so this tiny shop was filled with a million people. I had to make quick decisions about what I wanted to buy before I got knocked out by over-excited shoppers and so I bought myself a lip liner, a lipstick and an eyeshadow before I could think too hard about it.

I bought the lip liner in 'Vino' and I didn't even know I wanted it until the assistant, very persuasively, told me that it would go with the lipstick I was buying. It is a lovely deep red/purple colour and cost £12.
The lipstick was one that I first saw on Sammi from beautycrush and I thought it looked gorgeous. It was £15 and last a long time on your lips. (It also smells of vanilla is that just me?!)
Finally I bought an eyeshadow that I've been pining after for months and months and I'm so glad I finally bought it! It is a lovely dark brown matte colour and cost £12.50.

I also bought myself a perfume from Zara which was such an affordable price, for 50ml it was £7.99 which I think is such great value for money. The scent is called 'White' and it is quite jasminey and floral.

Finally we went into Urban Outfitters, and even though there were a million things i could have tried on and bought, especially in the presents section, we had to catch the tube to get the train and had only about ten minutes to spare, but maybe that was a good thing!
I ended up buying a beauuuuutiful white lace bra (which you can see here) which was very overpriced but oh well, and a hair scrunchie with cheetahs on.

So those are all of the things I picked up from London. I feel like I won't be doing any more big shops for a looooong time to come (especially for shoes!)

Get the Look: Miranda Kerr

Hi guys, so I really wanted to try out a look that other people could follow and use and I thought that this photo of Miranda Kerr is just too beautiful to pass up. I am so excited to recreate it and I hope I do her makeup justice:-) This is only my interpretation and so I'm not expecting to look the glowing goddess that Miranda Kerr does!

The photo that I was working from is this:

I decided to do the makeup look in video form because pictures and descriptions were proving too difficult haha! I'm sorry that the quality is terrible but it was the best option as I really wanted to upload a makeup tutorial today.

Products used:

BASE:
Maybelline BB Cream in Light (applied with beauty blender)
Benefit High Beam (for highlight)
Nivea Soft Blush (for contouring)
MUA Matte Perfect Loose Translucent Powder

EYES:

No7 Stay Perfect Eyeshadow in Starry Lights
MUA Trio Eyeshadow in Chocolate Box
Collection Brown Eye Pencil (used for brows as well)
The Body Shop Liquid Eyeliner in 01
Benefit 'They're Real!' Mascara

LIPS:
Barry M lip liner in 1
Barry M lipstick in Pillar Box Red

So just as a quick description, I start by applying my base and setting it with powder. I then highlight and contour my cheeks, forehead and nose. Then I fill in my brows and start on the eyes. I highlight my brow bone and use a dark brown to create a wing shape in my crease and near my eyebrows, I then use a lighter brown on my lid. I use the darker brown again to go half way along underneath my eye, as well as using brown eyeliner so that there is some definition but it isn't too harsh. I do a small line of eyeliner on my lid and apply mascara. I outline and fill in my lips with a lip pencil and then use my lipstick to go over it. To get a more matte look like Miranda I go over my lips with some powder (this also makes the lipstick last longer) and do a final coat of lipstick.

Thankyou to anybody who took the time to watch and I hope it was helpful as I'm not too sure if I'm embarrassing myself here!

The Liebster Award

So I was tagged to do this post by the wonderful Charlotte! Her blog is lovely lovely lovely and I'm so glad I was introduced to it. This is such a nice tag because it's there for all of us who are only just starting up into this blogging business. As I've understood, you have to answer the 11 questions given to you by your nominator, and then tag another 11 blogs that have under 200 followers, providing them with your own questions.

I think these questions are so interesting and I'm really excited to answer them and then make my own!
  1. Your house is burning to the ground; what is the one possession you save from the blaze?
WIthout sounding heartless, I am assuming that my parents and my little kitty cats have been saved from the flames, and so they are no longer my first priority haha! I think I would probably save (this sounds so lame) a box that I keep in my room full of things like photographs and birthday cards, as well as old family artefacts that would be missed so much. There are also things like old tickets and things in there that are full of memories, and also a book that belongs to me and my best friend that I would cry and cry over the loss of!

  2. In the fire you can only save one base product, one blush/bronzer, one eye product, one mascara, and one lip product. What do you choose?
This is a bit easier! For my base product I would choose my Clarins HydraQuench tinted moisturizer. (recommended to me by my granny haha) For my blush/bronzer I would probably choose Benefit's 'Hervana'. For my eye product I would honestly choose my MUA Chocolate Box eyeshadow trio even though I'm pretty sure it's like £2! For my mascara I would probably choose my Lord & Berry mascara which has treated me well for over a year (is that bad?) Finally, for the lip product, I would choose Pillar Box Red by Barry M.

  3. What is your signature scent?
I would probably say either New York CIty by Sarah Jessica Parker (which I still have a bottle of- it was my first perfume and I got rather attached to it!) or Dot by Marc Jacobs which I got for my birthday last year, and I haven't worn anything else since!

  4. Holy grail beauty item?
Jeez Louise this is going to sound so typical but it is probably Benefit's 'They're Real!' mascara because I don't think there is any makeup item that can look as good by itself. If you don't want to spends ages whacking shit on your face then you literally just have to put on this mascara and it makes it look like you've put in effort as well as simultaneously having enough natural attractiveness to not have to hide your face in makeup!

  5. TV show you are currently loving?
Well right now I am so glad that Some Girls has come back on because that show is the bomb! I am also so happy about the return of Downton Abbey because I missed it so much and then there's the Great British Bake Off which I will always watch religiously!

  6. Why do you blog?
It's something that I actually really enjoy doing. Even though it doesn't look like it, when I'm in the mood to write about makeup and fashion I could do it all day and night! I realised this when I saw how many blogs I follow of others and I thought, there is nothing else I would rather do with my time! Hopefully as my blog expands, I can be the source of enjoyment and inspiration of others just like myself!

  7. Who's a band/artist you'd love to see live, but never have?
Cliché alert but definitely Beyoncé! I have a friend who went and said it was so amazing. There are probably hundreds of bands and artists that I would love to see but if I could go and see the queen of fierce then I would. How many singers are there that you can see live, knowing that many songs by them? (Lucy I would take you of course and we would jam to Love On Top.)

  8. What event in your life are you most looking forward to in the near future?
Actually this is the perfect question for me because on Tuesday I am going to China with my school! This is such an exciting opportunity and I am so giddy about it.

  9. What one item of clothing will you be wearing non-stop this A/W?
Definitely my newest scarf from Zara that I got in Barcelona. I didn't realise how popular it was until I saw some youtubers hauling it so I'm chuffed I got ahead of that trend! It's basically red tartan on one side and sort of houndstooth on the other, but it is big enough to wear as a scarf, shawl or a blanket!

  10. And what one beauty item will you be using non-stop this A/W?
Probably my newest Barry M nail varnish in Matte Black because it is so perfect for fall and looks so great with everything! I have been wanting a Matte Black polish, or at least top coat, for so long and even contemplated splashing on the Chanel one, but I patiently waited and now I have one for four quid! So affordable and doesn't chip at all, I love it.

  11. I know it's months away, but any thoughts about what will be top of your Christmas wish list?
It is never too early to start a
wish list! I think the top of mine would probably be a polaroid camera, or maybe a glossybox subscription! There are also some headphones from Urbanears I've had my eye on, oh god the list is growing already...
Wow okay so that was the first thing I have ever been tagged in, so I'm feeling quite giddy with excitement at the moment! The 11 people that I want to tag are the following:

Steph and Libby from rosesandringlets.blogspot.com

The questions that I have given you are:

  1. What is your favourite big-budget cosmetic item?
  2. What is your favourite high street cosmetic item?
  3. What is your guilty pleasure when it comes to a band/artist?
  4. Who is your favourite blogger and why?
  5. Do you prefer S/S or A/W fashion and why?
  6. Would you rather go out with a makeup look that focuses on eyes or lips?
  7. What is a TV show that you are mourning the ending of recently? (I'm thinking BrBa!)
  8. What high end beauty product are you pining for at the moment?
  9. If you could only use one makeup brand for the rest of your life, what would it be?
  10. What is a film that you've seen recently that you would recommend to others?
  11. (Stealing this one from Charlotte!) What is your signature scent?

Hope you guys like the questions I've set!:-) Phew so this is a suuuper long post but I love writing about this sort of thing so thank you for reading anybody that did! Hope you like my new signature haha thought it would help with the overall look of the blog!

DIY floral sunglasses!

So as promised here is my DIY flowery sunglasses tutorial! With the help of Meredith's tutorial (Stilababe09) I was able to create these sunglasses really easily!

In the following picture is all of the things you need to create this look: sunglasses, super glue and the beads or cabochons of your choice. I will be making two pairs in preparation for my holiday and this is the first!

In the next picture I have already stuck one of the daisies on. I did this by applying glue to both the daisy and the glasses to ensure that it would be properly stuck on.

I did the same for the other side and made sure that they were symmetrical.

This is how the first two daisies looked and I continued to stick the others on so that each side looked as similar as possible.

This is a close up of the finished left side.

And these are the finished sunglasses! It was so easy to do and took me under ten minutes. I am really happy with the result of this pair and even though the daisies are quite large, they don't obstruct vision or anything, and if they did I would probably wear them anyway!

For the second pair I did exactly the same thing but with rose cabochons.

This pair were slightly more fiddly as the roses are small and there are more of them but I still think they turned out alright and I'm really excited to wear them!

This is the final result and after struggling with colour choice, I had to substitute a dark pink one with a light pink one but I don't think it is particularly noticeable so I don't mind. I'm happy with the results of this pair as well and although I was scared about ruining a pair of sunglasses I'm glad I did it because I think they came out really cool!

Sunglasses Collection

So I recently got an ebay package for some sunglasses that I ordered and so now I have five pairs! I dont know how I'm going to have time to wear them all but because they were so cheap I don't mind so much.

All of the following were under £3!

These are probably my favourite pair that I bought! I really like the shape of them and the tortoise shell edging is so pretty.

I have wanted a pair of these John Lennon sunglasses for ages and I sort of bought them on a whim, not knowing if they would suit me or not, but now that they've come I am planning on doing some DIY on them that I will blog about soon! It will involve flower cabochons and a certain tutorial by Meredith from Stilababe09!

When I ordered these I was looking for a pair of round sunglasses, because I didn't have any. I thought these were a good dupe for a pair that Vanessa Hudgens wears quite often. I am really happy that I managed to find some for so cheap!

These are probably my strangest pair. Had I found these in somewhere like Topshop I probably would have left them, but because they were only a couple of pounds from Ebay I thought, why not try them out.

Finally, these are my oldest pair and I've have them for a couple of years now. I got them from this vintage store for about £3.

June Favourites 2013

I know it's already well into July but I really wanted to make this my first post because there were so many things I really loved last month that I want to share!

First off is clothing and jewellery! I only bought this jumpsuit about two weeks ago but I've wanted it for so long and I haven't stopped wearing it! It was £30 in the Topshop sale and I have just about managed to squeeze myself into a size 8.

Next is these shorts that I got about a year ago also in the Topshop sale for £15. They were such a bargain for a pair of Topshop shorts and they've been so useful recently in the hot weather because they are my only other shorts that aren't denim. They are a bit big on me around my waist but if I'd got them any smaller they would have been too short so I don't mind!

Next are these midi rings from New Look, I have been looking for some above knuckle rings for aaaaaaaaaages and finally found a pack of three from New Look for only about £1.99. They are my favourite rings right now and I will either wear them by themselves or with piles of other rings because I think they always look quite nice! The pack I got was one silver, one gold and one bronze/rose gold.

On to shoes! Now because of the recent heat it means I can whack out my legs and wear some sandals. This pair are a really old pair of my mums that finally fit me after years of being too big. I'm glad I have them as they go with everything and the colouring is so nice, it also means I don't have to invest in a new pair for the summer that would probably end up being broken after my holiday!

Finally, I have been loving these nail varnishes. I went a bit mad in Boots at the Models Own counter because I had loads of points on my card, and even though these were a fiver each I got a 3 for 2 deal so I got all of them for a tenner! The one on the left is 'Blueberry Muffin' from the Fruit Pastel range. In the middle is 'Pink Punch' from the Ice Neon range and on the right is 'Indian Ocean' from Beetlejuice. I have wanted Indian ocean for so long ever since I saw Shannon from glamerdoll and vintagebeautygirls wearing it and I've wanted it ever since! I have been wearing each of these as much as possible and love them all.

Okay so that is all of my favourites from last month, I hope this was a successful first post and it's only one of many more to come, especially when I start my summer holiday and I have lots of spare time! x x x
